The Island of Sodor is home to many engines and vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Some are steam powered, some are diesel . Some are standard gauge, some are narrow gauge. But all together, they make up an ensemble that the island couldn't function without! Stay tuned, because Sodor is always expanding!
THE CAST
SR #7
Ivo Hugh as portrayed by Vincent Sekafetz
Ivo Hugh is a boisterous and outgoing young engine whose attitude clashes with the older, more reserved sensibility of the engines on the Skarloey Railway. Though he longs to see more of Sodor, he is optimistic and friendly to his fellow narrow gauge engines, but struggles fitting into his role, which he feels stifles him. He particularly forms a disdain for the oldest engine there, Duke, and his "rules", and his behavior takes a turn for the worse after an interaction with his inspiration, leading him on a path to prove himself to the rest of the railway, the island, and the world.
NWR #5
James as portrayed by Andrew M. (The Chairlord)
No stranger to the expanse of Sodor or the mainland beyond, James' extravagant life is everything a youngster could dream of. He takes pride in his paint and his place on the island, and enjoys flaunting it, much to the annoyance of his friends and much to the delight of the aspiring Ivo. However, his confidence is shattered when a diesel arrives on the island to help for the summer and brings with it a flood of insecurities and bad memories of decades past.
MSR #1
Duke as portrayed by Brady McGrath
A character, but not a colorful one. Duke's days of presiding over his old railway with engines like Sir Handel and Peter Sam (back when their names were Falcon and Stuart) are long over, but he can't help but revert to his old tendencies now that he has made a new home on the Skarloey. He has already surpassed Skarloey and Rheneas as the self-appointed patriarch of the family despite his relatively recent arrival, and comes to head-to-head with his polar opposite Ivo Hugh when the newly-built youngster joins the force and confronts his beliefs and and presumptions for how a railway- and a life- should be led. Will he be able to steer Ivo in the right direction after being out of the saddle for so long?
⌀
D261 as portrayed by Matthew Sonnack (MrMps2002)
13 years in the workshop, once so far ahead of his time and yet suddenly so far behind, one mistake with a hat was enough to banish this diesel back to the depths he came from. But after 38 years in the making, the diesel he is now is finally getting let back out.
NWR #6
Percy as portrayed by Alex Townsend (TheFamousEight)
The smallest of the main fleet, Percy often gets taken advantage of for his hardworking, kind, and naive nature, often the butt of James' jokes despite living there almost as long as he has. Percy is friendly, fun, and optimistic towards almost anyone once he gets to know them, but even this caterpillar has a breaking point...
SR # 1
Skarloey as portrayed by SodorFan2K10
The real originator of the railway that bears his name, Skarloey has seen his fair share of rambunctious young engines just like Ivo, but is much more reserved about his stance than Duke. He has a tendency to repress his emotions after being left to manage the railway alone for more years than he lets on, and he bears the burden of the Skarloey Railway heavy on his back. Though he often tries to laugh life off, even he becomes alarmed when the "situation" gets out of hand.
SR #2
Rheneas as portrayed by Mel Shiri
Rheneas was the no-nonsense co-captain of the SR for half a century with only Skarloey for company, before an overhaul took him out of commission for a decade. Now, returned to his position at the head of the railway, his high spirits brighten anyone's day. But the railway is not how he left it, and his blissful ignorance is clear to those who had to endure life without him.
SR #5
Rusty as portrayed by Michael Steeves (TheBuriedTruck)
Rusty's life of railway maintenance and work that one might consider "unglamorous" is oddly deceptive, as the little diesel leads a very perceptive life, noticing details that the other engines rarely have time for, be they a section of buckled track, or another engine's habits that have gone unchecked. The silent guardian of the Skarloey Railway has more to say than you think, but reserves it for his one-on-one checkups on the other engines, an ally wherever you least expect them, and often, where you most need them.
#55
Stepney as portrayed by CyberRusty99
Stepney's happy life on the Bluebell Branch Line on Sodor wouldn't have been possible without his best friend Rusty's help, and though he would rather not think back to his near-death experiences, he has a great deal of gratitude towards the little diesel and to life in general, an emotion he expresses in everything he does.
CFR #4
Culdee as portrayed by Sam Webster (MasterOfTheLemons)
A strange purple engine with two faces, Culdee works in a tucked away little tourist railway, scaling the highest mountains of Sodor 3000 feet above the Skarloey Railway and its charming antics. Culdee rarely gets to visit of course, but his tales still serve as an example to the younger engines.
NWR #2
Edward as portrayed by Matt Michaud (EnterprisingEngine93)
Edward is the backbone of the Northwestern, and attempts to foster kindness and understanding wherever he goes. Despite this caring nature, Edward's life isn't all sunshine and rainbows either, and the pressure from those around him can weigh him down after a while. Nonetheless, he strives for empathy all around, and has even become close with James, who trusts him as a confidante.
Bill & Ben as portrayed by Caleb Richardson (CalebTrain)
The island's most prolific tricksters, this pair will draw the line at nothing when it comes to their jokes and pranks, which drive everyone near them insane. Even worse if you're within earshot, as their bantering to each other is enough to make you deaf from sheer bewilderment alone. Edward, sadly, gets the worst of this.
?????
SR #4
Peter Sam as portrayed by Matt C. (Legomaster365)
A friend to all, Peter Sam will most likely be the first face you see on the Skarloey Railway. Friendly and mostly innocent, Peter Sam is almost always in good spirits, often oblivious to the world around him until it comes crashing down in his face. Sometimes literally. (He's never fully gotten used to the incline since). This can make him quite the target for scolding, but he never takes it too hard and always stands up for what is right.
SR #3
Sir Handel as portrayed by Ryan Hailey
Sir Handel is a faithful pessimist and anti-social troublemaker, but one that still craves attention and appreciation despite his frequent reluctance to perform the task he was asked to. When he and Peter Sam were younger, they worked on a railway together with Duke, who they looked up to and respected for his authority and grandfatherly position. Now, on the Skarloey, he and Peter Sam enjoy teasing Duke like they used to, and turn to him for advice primarily.
SR #6
Duncan as portrayed by Nicky Dovydaitis (MrConductorFan1406)
Rough around the edges and quick to pick a fight, Duncan is the SR's annoying little brother. But even little brothers grow up someday, and Duncan is a little tired of still being seen as the immature inconsiderate engine he used to be just because of his juniority and grumpy nature. He especially doesn't like this from Duke, someone who wasn't even there to see him that way, and he too is much more perceptive than he lets on.
NWR #1
Thomas as portrayed by Vincent Sekafetz
The proprietor of his own line, this number one engine doesn't take kindly to having his time wasted. Thomas has always been a little engine with a long tongue and a big imagination, but since winning his branchline in an act of bravery, his own self-worth has skyrocketed. But before that he was a little green tank engine with a lot of ambition.
As the island's express engine, Gordon certainly has a lot to feel superior about. Of course, this attitude has been a consistent enabler for James' already high ego and bigoted beliefs. He considers himself a gentleman, but he's certainly not an engine of consistent principle.
NWR #4
Gordon as portrayed by Sam Webster
Once, an engine attached to a train, was afraid of a few drops of rain...
Henry's refusal to leave the tunnel all those years ago is something that he's never really lived down, even with the updates done to his shape and his personality since then. Not as arrogant as he once was, he still falls victim to the insecure intolerance that Gordon influences.
Henry as portrayed by GarnetsWorld
